Welcome!
This is the FAQ ZWiki for the Connexions Project. Here we will develop a list of questions that are likely to be asked by different audiences, and our answers to them. This Wiki is the raw material for a more refined public FAQ on the cnx web site, so feel free to include all sorts of comments and half-formed ideas: we'll clean it up for the public page.
We need to define our audience(s), and questions that may be asked by each class. Remember the standard PR questions "What's in it for me? How is this different from everything else?"
Audiences:
- Faculty - potential authors and instructors
- Deans and other academic adminstrative types - potential institutional adopters
- Open Source developers
Questions from the other Wiki FAQ page (formerly at Planning/FAQ):
- What distinguishes Connexions from other web based education projects?
- How do I get involved?
- What does Connexions offer authors? Instructors? Students?
- How are things licensed?
- What is a "module"?
- How many modules are already in the system?
- How does content get reviewed?
- What is XML?
- Are there WYSIWYG editors for XML?
- Aren't these "modules" too small to adequately address some concepts?
Though short modules are the "atomic" unit of knowledge in the Connexions system, authors and instructors will be able to create and share arbitrarily grouped modules and the segues between them.
- What does your logo mean?
