The content in the repository can be viewed with any recent, standards-compliant web browser. However, the Connexions system supplies additional client-side tools for enhanced viewing and navigating.

Roadmap
The Roadmap browser extension downloads a machine-readable (RDF) version of a course, and displays the course outline. The Roadmap then highlights the current position in the course, allowing users to track their progress. The course outline display persists when users follow links to other, non-Connexions web-content to provide an easy method for returning to the course without having to use the browser's sometimes unreliable back button.
Annotations
To view annotations provided by course authors, users must have a client-side tool for retrieving and displaying them. The Connexions client-side annotation software (built on the W3C's Annotea) accesses the annotations for a course and displays them on the relevant modules. It also provides a local annotation facility for users to store personal annotations on their own machines.
