fixing problems, finding bugs

This week was dominated by reworking the backup dirvish cron job system thing (it was all PAMs fault!) and dealing with the Fibre Channel drive array.

Nailed the reason cron was griping: misconfigured PAM settings in common-{auth,account}

Set up LDAP accounts, and the SSL protections on software.cnx.rice.edu (this blog!) so it's safe(er) to use the LDAP server for accounts. Yeah! one less password to remember, please be careful with it.

Not 2 hours after having fixed backups (and run a manual set) the drive array throws a wobbly, and loses part of the cvs tree. No problem, G'ovner, just restore from this backup!

Selenium is set up to try automating some of the high-points tests: handed off to Jenn.
