Altova has come out with yet another service pack covering Authentic, XMLSpy, and StyleVision, so I'm doing some general Windows maintenance while I'm having to deal with the Altova upgrades anyway.
We cut back to only a single purchased version each of XMLSpy and
StyleVision a while ago. XMLSpy had its maintenance package (without
which you can't get any updates at all) updated in February,
but StyleVision didn't, so when Chuck found StyleVision had expired we
just went ahead and upgraded to the Altova XMLSuite, or whatever they
call it. That's on Nimue now. Also today and yesterday, I've been helping Ross get the staff Windows machines into shape for having their data backed up. Up until this point, we've been having Max and Mark upload all their important stuff to their Unix home directories where it will get backed up automatically, but direct backups of their desktops' data will be much better.
In the "amusing" category, I've had a to-do item to acquire Mathematica 5 and Office 2003 and/or XP for a while, but couldn't find anyone who knew how Rice handles Office. Just as we finally got a brand-new licensing manager at Mudd, I am reminded that Kyle works for Engineering IT anyway! So he's gotten me the bits, and I just have to track down licenses. For anyone who needs to know, the new person is Henny at x4208.
