I know I'll lose track of what I did this week if I don't blog it, so for the benefit of our absent manager I'm going to try to do daily progress reports this week.

Getting advancedsearch set up for testing

Kyle merged trunk (with lenses) to the advancedsearch branch, and I've got it running on wakizashi 8580. Manpreet and I took a quick look at the list of tickets and she's ready to start addressing the outstanding issues.

The outstanding issues that are currently blocking further advancedsearch testing all relate to either (1) switching between simple and advanced search (#3510, #3500, etc.), or (2) confusion about search input (#3507, #3428, etc.)

Surveying other milestones for testability

Since advancedsearch and Trac-rollout both need further work before I can start testing, I took a fresh look at the other milestones that are hanging around. Subject and Collection Type choosing are just waiting on policy, so I merged from trunk to keep them ready to go. I moved everything in July07 to NearFuture, because it's so depressing to have the deadline you've missed in the very title of the milestone; NearFuture is due at the end of August, which seemed like a reasonable timeline for those tickets. There are EIP and Word importer milestones, but Brian's out of town so those don't seem like good candidates. I think cals2html is still waiting on email policy. So there's not much I can make progress with, but it's comforting to find that there's nothing too horrible lurking on the roadmap page.

Getting servers ready for the hardware move

Ross and I are getting the 1U servers in Mudd set up to take on the job of serving Connexions while the blades etc. get moved to the new data center. This is all going to happen tomorrow, if all goes as planned; I'll stay in the office ready to do Ross's electronic bidding, and he'll be the guy on site. The plan is involving a lot of software upgrades on the 1U's, but it's going relatively smoothly so far.

Where's Jon Stewart? Oh, this is the Daily Report, not the Daily Show!

At least you didn't accuse me of being the Drummond Reporr.
