OpenOffice Connexions template
I first opened Connexions-Document.dot file in OpenOffice, and I did not see CNXML styles in styles bar. But then after selecting 'More...' from there and after going for 'Character Styles' I found CNXML styles, and I also could apply them to text. This means that it is possible to use Word Template in OpenOffice. I also saved this template as .ott file, which is OpenOffice template. All CNXML styles are seen under Chatacter styles, except CNXML Quote, which is Paragraph style.
The only difference is that in OpenOffice it is not explicitly seen that you can use those styles. We have to tell to user how to get those style. In file I uploaded I put some instructions, which I guess should help.
I also changed section title macro, because it was not working in OpenOffice. Currently there is H1 text in there, and instruction telling to replace it.
New CNXML template which is from scratch can be downloaded from here
Here is example document created using OO template.

So I will just put instructions for seeing CNXML styles.

Another thing was appearance of CNXML styles in styles box, and there I figured out that OpenOffice displays only paragraph styles in there, not chatacter styles. CNXML Quote was the only CNXML style displayed in that box. I will try to find out how to change it though.
I have uploadede new CNXML template, you can see it by following link in the blog.
Btw, I would also like to discuss existing Word template, because there were some 3 styles with same formatting.
