LaTeX content, here we come.

It would appear that I never published this.  Oops.

Since most of the DSP (and natural science in general) community uses LaTeX, we've long needed a good way to LaTeX content into Connexions.  Since we're all growing old and grey waiting for a LaTeX -> content MathML converter, we decided to relax our policies a bit and allow presentation MathML in modules.  This enables us to take advantage of some tools that do a reasonable job converting LaTeX into XHTML+presentation MathML.

Probably the best I've seen is Scientific Workspace which was brought to our attention by Paul Padley.  Before meeting with him I had created a quick script to convert SW's output to CNXML for ready input into Connexions.  So this week I hooked it up into our beta site so that Paul and others could test it out.  Well, very few others.  Until the feature has gone through at least some testing it will be restricted.  Sorry.

The next step will be to generalize the importer a bit to handle XHTML from other sources.  There are a few other LaTeX converters out there and many, MANY sources of HTML.

Your link to Chuck blog entry is relative (which is fine), but works only by virtue of Zope's sibling aquisition: it looks like Chuck's blog is inside yours!
